Situated within a day's drive of 50% of the U.S. population, Branson remains a popular destination for the AAA member.
The area has undergone many changes since its national attention in the early 1990s. With the addition of the Branson
Landing on Lake Taneycomo and the Hilton Branson Convention Center Hotel, downtown Branson is now more alive, and has
become an enhancement for the 50+ live-music theatres along Highway 76 and Shepherd of the Hills on the west side of U.S. Hwy 65.
Branson has been primarily a drive destination; however, in May 2009 the new 58,000 square-foot Branson area airport will open,
offering daily commercial jet service by AirTran from major markets across the country such as Atlanta.
