With plenty of family fun, world-class dining options, and a critically acclaimed arts scene, Warwick and Providence, Rhode Island make great getaway destinations.
Warwick, features quaint villages and two lighthouses scattered along 39 miles of coastline. Located in the heart of Rhode Island, Warwick is an ideal place to stay and see everything that Southern New England has to offer. Whether your interests lie in boating and shoreline activities or exploring history, Warwick is a great place to start.
Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy strolling along the coastline, chartering a boat for deep sea fishing, golfing, or horseback riding at Goddard Memorial State Park. Or you can spend the day shopping and then dine in style overlooking beautiful Narragansett Bay.
Providence, recognized as one of the country's hottest culinary cities, is home to Johnson & Wales University, the world's largest culinary educator. Many of the university's chefs remain in Providence after graduation, which is reflected in the city's much-lauded dining scene. The Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), one of the nation's best art schools, is also located in the city. RISD's Museum of Art houses more than 80,000 works of art, ranging from Greek sculpture to French Impressionist paintings.
Families will find plenty to do at Roger Williams Park, from paddle boats to picnics, and at the park's crown jewel, Roger Williams Park Zoo. One of the city's most popular events is WaterFire, a multi-sensory art installation, highlighted by a series of bonfires installed on the three rivers of downtown Providence. Held from May to October, WaterFire has drawn tens of thousands of people in a single evening.
